My good friend Pierre just bought a HTC P6300. He’s replacing his Qtek S110. Good choice or not? I’ll get back to you on that subject later. He’ll probably receive it in the coming days and as we go on vacation together with our family in 2 weeks, I’ll have some nice testing oportunities like using it in the swimming pool or smashin it through the golf course. Yes Pierre, with 6 children, all of ages between 3 weeks and 4 years, we’ll find some time to play golf.
But, this post is more about tis funny notes that Pierre sent me this afternoon. After his Qtek S110 went dead, he took him approximately 3 mins to order the new phone on PDAshop.be. Then, it took 10 minutes to the backoffice to process the order and send a confirmation email.
« 10 minutes to get the confirmation email, more time than it took me to place the order »
« Next time you’re interviewing for a job, pretend that the power structure is reversed. The hiring manager is trying to figure out if there is any chance you are worthy of the job. Ignore that. Instead, spend your time trying to figure out if there is any chance that guy is worthy of being your manager. »

I’ve just tried out Jaycut beta, an online editing tool.
By definition, Jaycut has a lot of nice features:
Those are the ones that comes with web 2.0 by defintion, aren’t they?
Here are some of the things I didn’t like with Jaycut
So, Jaycut is a nice tools for really simple video editing or photo montage. That is true, but … here comes the pain.
The main problem is that you want your editing tool to be super-reactive. And Jaycut is not. It has this kind of slowness that you find on most Webapps, even Google ones. And don’t tell me about the bandwith, I know bandwidth, I live in France, the country where you have 5 providers giving your ADSL2+ with free phone and free for 30 EUR per month.
Another big problem is the upload. If it has to be really usable, you need to be able to upload real-life video. Which means HD-video, which means a huge amount of data, which means a huge amount of time for upload, which means pain. I know, bandwidth again … you know my answer.
Jaycut is another webapps that gives Desktop Apps a nice space and future.

I’m impressed. Three words « fin de Potter » or in English « End/Conclusion of Potter », and I’ve got a top #1 place on Google.fr for one of my latest post on the book. I don’t even have any incoming link I know of on this post. By the way, now that I already know the conclusion, I’ve received the book by Chronopost. It was packaged in a nice Amazon-Potter box. Should have make a picture for you before throwing it.

This afternoon, during my latest Skype call with my dear friend Didier, I was really impressed by two things. First, it wasn’t raining in Brussels. Second, the Skype video quality was really neat. Click on the pics to get a larger version and check by yourself. Nice!
